Emergency Eye Care in Batley

If you develop a sudden problem with your eye or vision, Batley Eyecare provides urgent and emergency eye care through the NHS-funded PEARS service.

For eligible eye problems, your assessment can be free through the NHS, if you live in West Yorkshire.

We can assess:

  • Red or painful eyes

  • Sudden changes in vision

  • New flashes or floaters

  • Irritated, watery or sticky eyes

  • Eye injuries and corneal scratches

  • Foreign bodies in the eye

  • Other sudden or unexplained eye symptoms

Specialist Eye Care

Many acute eye problems are best assessed by an optometrist with specialist eye examination equipment rather than in a GP surgery. We examine the eye in detail using slit-lamp microscopy and, where required, additional retinal imaging. We have over £100,000 of specialist equipment dedicated to examining your eyes. Your GP typically has little to no specific eye equipment. Where appropriate, treatment can be provided or prescribed by our prescribing optometrist. Should you require hospital services we can be refer you directly.

Foreign Body Removal

If something has entered your eye, we can assess the eye and remove superficial foreign bodies where it is safe and appropriate to do so, including metal, grit and other debris. We are one of the few practices in West Yorkshire with the training, equipment and skills to do this.

OCT Eye Scans

An emergency eye examination can be upgraded to include OCT imaging for £20, providing detailed scans of the retina, optic nerve and anterior eye.

Not in West Yorkshire?

Not to worry, we have patients that travel to us from London, Manchester, Barnsley and many more. Our private emergency appointments include all necessary investigations and are only £105
